Singer Yemi Alade Criticizes Lagos State Government for Mende Estate Demolition

Renowned singer Yemi Alade has taken a bold stance against the Lagos state government's recent demolition of houses in the Mende area, sparking a heated debate on real estate practices in the region.

The demolition, carried out by the state Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, targeted houses allegedly constructed on the state's drainage system. Yemi Alade, in a passionate video shared over the weekend, highlighted the detrimental impact of these demolitions on Lagos and Nigeria's real estate landscape.

Expressing her concerns on social media on May 5, Yemi Alade criticized the government for potentially deterring investments in Lagos real estate. She urged the state authorities to consider compensating affected legal buyers who had invested in properties in the area, emphasizing the need for accountability and fair treatment of those impacted by the demolitions.

This bold move by Yemi Alade not only sheds light on the challenges faced by property owners in Lagos but also underscores the importance of responsible urban development and governance in preserving the integrity and value of real estate investments.
